Outpatient Program:
Phoenix Area Residents
We will EMPOWER you to be alcohol free.

Assisted Recovery is committed to providing a comprehensive treatment program that addresses the numerous components of alcohol dependency.

At Assisted Recovery, we understand that alcohol dependence is far more than an issue of lack of character, lack of motivation, lack of will power, and indeed, an inability to reach out to a “higher power”. While we do not deny the value of a spiritual or faith based approached that can be appropriate for many people, Assisted Recovery offers a science based and medically researched approach to recovery from alcohol dependence.

We recommend that an individual remain active in the recovery process for one year. In addition to the use of effective medication’s the program includes both one on one and group cognitive behavioral therapy. The use of approved medications dramatically changes the dynamics of treatment.

We do not want recovery to be the total focus of your life. It is our goal to empower you to lead a happy, productive life without alcohol, and yes recovery programs.

Traditional treatment focuses on attempting to assist an individual from taking a drink via 12 Step meeting attendance and talk therapy.

At Assisted Recovery, our clients are able
to focus on the truly difficult part of the recovery process, learning and understanding how to be happy in life, without alcohol.

It must be emphasized that the effective medications utilized by Assisted Recovery are tools, and not cures in themselves. They will level the playing field. They are however only one component of the treatment process. Also essential is the counseling and therapy component. Assisted Recovery provides Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as developed primarily by Dr. Albert Ellis, Ph.D. Our Clinical Director, Dr. Emmett Velten, Ph.D. is a preeminent cognitive therapist and is on the Board of Director’s of the Albert Ellis Institute of New York City.

Assisted Recovery fully understands that in treating alcohol dependence, one size does not fit all. An individual treatment plan is developed together by both the client and staff. In general, we ask clients to commit to attending a minimum of two groups per week for the first six months and two to four groups per month for the second six months.

In addition, each client is asked to commit to a minimum of 10 one on one sessions, normally one per week. We do however provide up to 26 one on one sessions during the period of the program and highly encourage clients to use as many of these sessions as they feel is helpful. While group meetings have a set time, Assisted Recovery is very flexible in setting up one on one appointment’s, including on Saturdays.

Assisted Recovery offers a comprehensive Out Patient program for area residents. ARCA is proud to have developed one of the first “evidence based treatment”, non 12-Step programs in the United States, utilizing among others, the research of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Treatment Research Center in Philadelphia. This type of program has become known as the Pennsylvania Model of Recovery (click for slide show). Located in midtown Phoenix on Indian School Road, Assisted Recovery is only minutes from I-10, I-17 and SR 51. Click for map.

"Studies conducted at the University of Pennsylvania have demonstrated the effectiveness of outpatient treatment. Indeed the studies has shown that out patient/real world treatment is more
effective then inpatient (cocoon) treatment."
